LOS ANGELES — A young man injured himself in an apparent tagging gone wrong.

Police say the man was tagging a freeway sign in Lincoln Heights Saturday night and fell onto the road below, possibly breaking his back.

Witnesses told officers someone holding a can of spray paint fell from an overpass sign onto the Golden State (5) Freeway near North Main Street about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, whose name and age were undisclosed, was taken to a hospital.

His condition was not yet known.
